2018 Goals

Let’s set some powerful but achievable goals for the new year!

December 7, 2017

I hope you’ve had a successful year and achieved lots of the goals you set at the beginning of 2017. And, hey, even if you didn’t achieve them all – it’s that time of the year again where we can wipe the slate clean and start a fresh!

With the New Year almost upon us, now is the ideal time to take a look at the previous year, understand what worked for us, and decide what our goals are for 2018. Where do you want your business to be as you come into the holdiays next year?

Sometimes, it’s easy for us to sit down with a coffee, write a list of our goals, and eventually get disappointed when we don’t reach them. The problem many of us have is that we find ourselves setting unrealistic targets. The goals themselves might be achievable enough, but the short timeframes you give yourself can often cause unnecessary stress and anxiety when you’re rushing yourself to complete them.

It’s far more effective to spend a little longer on each project and ensure that it’s completed to its highest potential, rather than trying to rush it into a short timeframe. As with all forms of online marketing, it’s a long-term strategy you’ll implement for long-term gains. Anything that you’re looking to achieve overnight will be a quick fix and not something you can rely on for the long-term growth and development of your business.

When setting our goals for 2018, we need to be honest about where we would like to be 12 months from now. From there, we can create a list of goals and work out how we will achieve each one, individually. Your goal may be for you to achieve a specific figure for an increase in profits, bring in a set number of new customers, or to open a new office space in a particular location. Whatever your target or goal may be, we must ensure that we are clear about what we need to do to achieve it, and how we will take the necessary steps to achieve them.

I also highly recommend setting smaller goals. This might be something as small as painting your office walk, getting a new plant for your desk, or perhaps finally purchasing that new computer screen you’ve been promising yourself. This is a healthy way to work towards your goals, and you’ll feel like you’re achieving your targets as you work towards your most substantial targets. Those smaller victories will boost your confidence and help you smash the big goals!

One thing you might wish to do is to take half an hour to write down how your website and social media pages are performing currently. Jot down how many visitors your site is currently attracting each day and how many followers you have on each of your social media pages. It’ll be great to look back on a year from now and see how much more popular your website and social media accounts are!

Above all else, have a great rest of December and we wish you all the best for the New Year!
